The freshwater crab is a crustacean inhabiting freshwater ecosystems worldwide. It typically possesses a compact, rounded body with a hard exoskeleton and a pair of pincers used for feeding and defence. These crabs vary in size, ranging from a few centimetres to several inches in width. They are adapted to life in water, possessing gills to extract oxygen and specialized appendages for locomotion and feeding. Their coloration can vary, but often includes shades of brown, green, or grey to blend with their surroundings.
