Corbett National Park, a smaller section of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve, is located in the Nainital district of the Uttarakhand province. It is also a Project Tiger Reserve. The beautiful landscape of Corbett is well-known and legendary for its profusion of tigers.
Corbett was first formed in 1936 as Hailey National Park and is now India’s oldest and most famous National Park. It is also known for hosting the Project Tiger world premiere in 1973. It is best known as its father since Project Tiger, which was established in India to protect the most endangered species and the Royal of India known as Tigers, was born there.
It comprises hills, meadows, riverine belts, marshy depressions, and a big lake, and has a total area of 520 square kilometres. This is one of the few tiger reserves in India that allows visitors to spend the night inside the National Park. Visitors to the park can view the natural world and wildlife while riding on an elephant’s back or in an open-wheeled Jeep.
Because it is home to numerous tigers and unusual species like otters and the rare fish-eating crocodile, the national park is one of the most well-liked vacation spots for wildlife enthusiasts. Tourist areas:
The tourist zones are the core or buffer parts of the park that have been designated as places where visitors can take part in wildlife safaris and see the intriguing behaviour of the animals firsthand.
Bijrani Safari Zone:
The Bijrani Safari Zone is a popular travel destination because of its vast natural beauty and open grasslands. The zone’s entrance gate is only a mile away from Ramnagar city.
Jhirna Safari Zone:
Jhirna Safari Zone: Open all year round, Jhirna is another important tourist destination in Jim Corbett National Park. Jhirna Gate and Ramnagar City are separated by 16 kilometres.
Dhela Safari Zone:
Tourists can only access this section of the reserve’s boundary zone in CTR, known as the Dhela Safari Zone. Due to its unique flora and wildlife, as well as its accessibility throughout the year, the region, which is about 13 kilometres from Ramnagar City, is attracting a lot of tourists.
Corbett dhikala zone:
The Dhikala Zone, the largest and most varied section of Corbett’s jungle, is renowned for its abundance of unspoiled beauty and for offering the best views of unusual wildlife. 18 kilometres separate Ramnagar city from the entrance gate. It’s strongly recommended for wildlife enthusiasts to spend the night inside the Dhikala Tourism Zone.
Durga Devi Zone:
The northeastern border of Jim Corbett National Park is home to Durga Devi Zone, the bird watcher’s paradise. The distance between the entry gate and Ramnagar city is about 36 kilometres.
Sitabani Buffer Zone:
The Corbett Tiger Reserve’s perimeter does not include the Sitabani Zone. Visit the Sitabani region if you appreciate the tranquillity of the outdoors.
