World Ranger’s Day

On the occasion of World Ranger’s Day, Jim’s Jungle Retreat salutes forest rangers who risk their lives to protect wildlife
Protecting wildlife is a risky job. Often our forest rangers have to face hostile field conditions, encounters with wild animals and ruthless poachers to ensure that they perform the duty of ensuring the safety of animals.

One such ranger is Dharmapal Singh Negi, who has been working with Corbett Tiger Reserve since 1990. He has been instrumental in catching poachers and has been leading animal rescue missions in various parts of Corbett Tiger Reserve. In 2013, he was honoured with the Chief Minister’s award for participating in a mission to catch tiger poachers. He was awarded by the forest department for putting his life at risk to rescue a tiger that had strayed in Ramnagar town in 2020. In 2022 he has again been awarded for excellent service in his range by the forest department. When contacted today, he was camping in the jungle with his team for rescuing a tiger that has been attacking people in Dhangarhi-Mohan area.
Jim’s Jungle Retreat salutes all such brave forest rangers and thanks them for performing their duty of protecting our wild heritage.
